At 12.01am, Tunku Abdul Rahman shouted "Merdeka" three times on Aug 31, 1957. Merdeka Day, otherwise known as Independence Day, is one celebration that Malaysians of all religions and cultures can take part in. Every year Malaysians gather at a particular spot and rejoice the day the British granted us independence.Merdeka Day is such an important and a memorial event that we should remember and appreciate. It resembles the pride for the nation, love for the country and yes, I am very proud to be a Malaysian! This year Malaysia celebrates it's 52nd Independence Day with its theme:" 1 Malaysia" or in malay the full theme name is "1 Malaysia, Rakyat Didahulukan, Pencapaian Diutamakan". Wishing all Malaysian a Happy 52nd Independence Day in advance! ^^
